In the waking hour...

In the waking hour
In a deep velvet dawning
Waits a morning wine

Initially I would have interpreted the sky as brooding until I read your poem. Another perspective!

Wonderful wintry skies, Gemma, and a terrific capture! I love the bare tree -- the perfect exclamation point!! Hope your week is going well! Stay warm!

I like the way you have evoked numerous senses.

The feel of the morning, just waking up has its own sensory gifts and difficulties!

Deep velvet appears and FEELS a certain way. Love that!

Morning wine... well, once upon a time when I drank wine... so you evoke flavor, appearance, scent...

Awesome! ^_^ Even cooler that you've written in haiku. I've been thinking of this form lately. So nice.

You make it velvet with your wine, refusing to sink into the greyness it suggests. Wow! (Wait! I am coming over for a glass . . . )
