Chinatown Shadows

Just off Swanston Street, in Little Bourke Street, Melbourne is Chinatown.
Chinatown dates back to the 1850's and the gold rush days.
Melbourne's Chinatown claims to be the longest, continuous Chinese settlement in the western world.
The photo above captures one of many interesting streetscape features.

Like a sacred sign
A sense of pointing upward
Like a secret code

It looks indeed like a secret sign or code Well worded. In NZ we had many Chinees people coming in digging for gold although not as many.

Gemma... I love this photo! Your haiku is equally stunning. Seems there is a Chinatown in many cities. I have visited Chicago, San Francisco and Winnipeg. Would love someday to get to Melbourne. A Chinatown visit would be on the list of places to shop and eat.
I'm glad to be back in circulation. I have missed my shadow shot friends. Thank you for keeping this fabulous meme going along with MMT and Rose.
Next time you're in "Merica, look me up and we'll ride that motorcycle.

Peace

It makes its own quiet statement. Nice perch for the pigeons too.
