This is an interesting piece, and, as you said, a mystery. Sculpture? Natural stone?
It is compelling and a little scary!

The growths on the post are lichens. If I remember correctly, lichen is a combination of a moss and an algae...now I have to go look!

I was close...lichen is a combination of a fungus and an alga. It grows places neither could survive alone, like rocks and fence posts!

Very interesting. My bet is on a natural formation that's been move to the lovely gardens.

It's probably natural stone but it looks a bit like a melting snowbank to me. Yeah, well it is winter here. :)

Really got me thinking on this one. I might need to check that thing out when I'm there next.

Thanks for coming by my blog---love "White Mystery" and "School Shadows"---both great shots. I liked reading your "About Me" profile too--glad you have found love. It makes the world a whole lot better place to live in. I'm a teacher too--first grade and Preschool--also a Libra. I'll check in on your blog again. Mickie

I thought at first it was a natural formation and then I changed my mind. Which is it?

Not easy to tell how much of that is natural vs man-made.

You handled the Haiku Heights prompt ("spyhole") quite deftly, Gemma. I'm still struggling with it!

Its a beautiful piece of sculpture...like many heads seated/sandwiched together...
We never quite know what the creator, be it a sculpture or the universe, actually visualised....we can only hazard a guess....beautiful Haiku

That structure is a mystery indeed, but it looks marvelous amidst the green, yellow and white.

Lovely shot and a wonderful take on the Haiku Heights prompt, Gemma.

smart Haikus,
cheers.

It has intrigued me too!! Very bright but still mysterious. Finally my conclusion is that it is just there to accentuate the white flowers growing all around it :)
