AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes

AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes
I love a sunburnt country / A land of sweeping plains / Of ragged mountain ranges / Of droughts and flooding rains / I love her far horizons / I love her jewel-sea / Her beauty and her terror / The wide brown land for me / ~ Dorothea Mackellar (1885-1968)

Saturated Identity?

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ Deep darkness over Dromana, Mornington Peninsula
This was a night without stars.
Only the lights of Dromana and Safety Beach were really visible, curving around the Port Phillip Bay.
I liked the mystery of light and odd tones of colour in the barely visible clouds.
It was as if all known reality was saturated with night's darkness.

3WW CLXXXIV ~ deviate + identify + saturate
~

Some worlds gush with darkness
For a little while
~
Formless maybe tones
Saturate a blank sky
Night eyes are prowling

Cautious need bearings
Identify known icons
Parachute safety

Children deviate
Curiosity flying
Never ends for some

It's difficult to see something because of your black background, at least my screen doesn't show your picture very well.

I keep a notebook next to me in the truck to write down interesting words and phases I think of or hear on the radio while I'm driving...I HAVE NOTES EVERYWHERE... but I love to use them in the thoughts I write. This evening sky is wonderful and your blue skies are to die for...the birds the landscape...you are truly is a beautiful country Gemma, so exotic!

I would love to walk those shores, peering into caves and watch the wild surf roll the flotsam into shore...and NO SNOW!!!

Love your new picture my little friend...big hugs from America!!!

I could see the photo better when I clicked on it to enlarge it. It is beautiful, but I'm sure being there would have been better.

This made me smile. "Curiosity flying / never ends for some." May it never end. :) And I also loved "formless maybe tones" -- so evocative.

Great haikus, I enjoyed the "Children deviate..." piece the most. Curiosity certainly doesn't end for some, a shame it ends for others.
