Vertical Anomalies

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ A bird (with only one usable wing) in a cage at Crystal Ocean Wildlife Shelter, Dromana, Mornington Peninsula

PhotoHunt #208 ~ Vertical

~
So strange

Peripheral vision means an awareness of
All that is here and there
A horizontal skill

A journey from A to B
(Usually a horizontal)
May be a mapped formula
From here to there

A vertical usually means
Some structure
(Natural or unnatural)
Connected with earth
(Actually or relatively)
Rising in perpendicular symmetry

Yet a horizon
(A virtual horizontal)
Is associated with
Leaving here for
Where?
Almost a virtual vertical
Rising hope
Rising dreams
A Clayton's vertical
Lifting from
Here to

Up there

And the real anomaly
The parallel verticals of a bird cage
To a bird
Mean a semi-useful horizontal ladder
To a human
The verticals are a convenient containment
And the spaces are little more than
A scratch point
(Or a complementary
Nipping point)

Strange
So very strange

I'll give the key to open the cage, he'll be free and fly together with my bird entry...

Great shot, love the yellow crown. It's beautiful.

So nice that he is being taken care of. I like your “angle” on the vertical theme.

Too bad the bird has a damaged wing. I'm sure it will live longer in a cage than out.

I enjoyed your words about vertical and horizontal. There's a lot to think about there!

Beautiful bird. Good that it is getting help. Unusual take on the vertical-theme.
I'm very late with my post.
Take a look if you get the time.
