AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes

AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes
I love a sunburnt country / A land of sweeping plains / Of ragged mountain ranges / Of droughts and flooding rains / I love her far horizons / I love her jewel-sea / Her beauty and her terror / The wide brown land for me / ~ Dorothea Mackellar (1885-1968)

*NOTES:
1. This poetic form is called tetractys....1.2.3.4.10
2. hedgewitch has written a stunning, Italian sonnet called Compost of Earthly Delights:
This nightmare of strange bedfellows slapped into a music hall sonnet of dignity is like a walk through a sideshow alley of freak shows! Fear and fascination keep us walking! An amazing piece!

One Shot Wednesday is hosted by American Poets Brian Miller, Leslie Moon & Adam Dustus and British Poet Pete Marshall

Wow--thanks for the kind words here on your own site on top of your comment at my place, which I greatly enjoyed. Much appreciated.

Have heard of this form and haven't run across any examples of it before--I like what you've done with it, stark and uncomfortably true, esp. the money part. Excellent piece.

"Everyone's wrapped in their own images" I think I shall go around the rest of the day thinking and saying that.

Bravo!

And namaste to you too, my lovely new friend.

Innovative and fresh, with a great visual image to aid the imaginative process.
