Carry on Tuesday #74 ~ John Lennon would have been 70 years old this October 9th.
It is therefore fitting that our prompt this week is the opening line of one of his songs, Beautiful Boy:
Close your eyes, have no fear....
~
Holocaust burnings
Scorched blemish from yesterdays
A furnace of tears
Lonely dark heartaches
Cursed tensions from tragedies
Contaminate peace
Move on with hope
And close your eyes, have no fear
Mend a broken mind
Let memories rest
Envision fire as a phoenix
Cleanse a broken soul

This picture is so simple and so beautiful...and it says so much. Your writing was lovely. What a wonderful sculpture. I had never thought of a Holocaust in Melboure. I took 7th graders to Washing to the one there and each time I would cry when I saw the piles of shoes thy had to take off before going into the “showers”. So very sad, but a beautiful post.

mending a broken soul...interesting
nice writing
Fire as phoenix...
interesting.
Wise words, but It's hard to move on, even for those that never lived through it.
The first story I wrote after a long absence was on this period, and some later ones also. There is something about the inhumanity of it the act, hard to move past.

That picture is overwhelming and beautiful...
Hope - that's what we need every day...
Beautiful...Loved them all... :)
Cleansing a broken heart... is the best part.
Loved all Haiku.
Touching haiku. The line "Contaminate peace" shouted at me. As did "cleanse a broken soul."
There is a lot going on in this minimalist verse. You present very thought-provoking images.
Envision fire as a phoenix
Cleanse a broken soul
I love this.
A furnace of tears...that says it all. Such touching words..I enjoyed all of your haikus.
powerful take.
fabulous writing!
powerful photo...the holocaust's painful emotions brought out perfectly...Splendid!
I am touched by all. You have great insight!
dad, farther and farther away
You captured so much with so few words! "A furnace of tears" - may we never forget!
It is always a pleasure to visit here and gain insight to so many different things....
So much here, to know, to understand. "Furnace of tears" stands out as it should. The mending of broken minds and souls, many lifetimes of work,
Elizabeth
All are powerfully rich and creatively expressed. Full of emotion, very nice!

Cleanse a broken soul indeed! Beautifully written.
Hope lies here resting, awaiting it's chance to cleanse the soul...
