AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes
I love a sunburnt country / A land of sweeping plains / Of ragged mountain ranges / Of droughts and flooding rains / I love her far horizons / I love her jewel-sea / Her beauty and her terror / The wide brown land for me / ~ Dorothea Mackellar (1885-1968)

Balnarring Art Gallery Sign

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ Sign for a tiny art gallery at Balnarring, Mornington Peninsula.
The sign design seems strange because most of the gallery's work is dominated by the work of Aboriginal/Koori artists from a remote community called Utopia in the Northern Territory.
This ochrey, earthy-toned work features a series of dots in intricate designs that tell a story or a legend.

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ A separate sign advertises the Aboriginal element in the gallery.
There is a touch of yellow dots round the outside of the circles.

Would have loved to see the exposition ! I just came back from an exposition where you have to follow a path which leads you from house to house where artists expose their works.

There's a certain something in abstract works that I look into before liking them...this piece has that, really like it!

The first sign is very eye catching! I was quite taken with the dotted aboriginal art when I first visited Australia - I wish I'd been able to buy some.

I like the yellow dots.
I also like the John Lennon Commemorative sign because I had just been thinking:- in less than two months I'm going to be a Beatles song.
