AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes

AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes
I love a sunburnt country / A land of sweeping plains / Of ragged mountain ranges / Of droughts and flooding rains / I love her far horizons / I love her jewel-sea / Her beauty and her terror / The wide brown land for me / ~ Dorothea Mackellar (1885-1968)

Carry on Tuesday #69 ~ This week our prompt is the first words of Mark Twain’s The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn first published in 1884:
You don’t know about me.....
~

The beauty of space
Open skies and open seas
A small boat waiting

You are so grounded
But you don't know about me
I'm just adornment

You are successful
But you don't know about me
I'm just your trinket

Routine or new worlds
The wonder of space to dream
Tomorrows' choices
~

Sometimes I almost think I could write a haiku! But yours are so beautiful and expressive -- I think I'll just read them instead!

I love the simple boat on the beach. I could sit there for hours looking at that scene. Thanks for sharing!

I love these haiku, the way they stand alone and yet link together. The form such a sense of longing and sadness and hope...absolutely lovely.

Each haiku stands on it's own but woven together tells a larger story. I love the layers this style creates. Beautifully crafted, Gemma

The first one reminded me that I had planned to slip out at dawn and write in the kayak while the sun rose. Regretting the choice that kept me home. Maybe tomorrow.

The photo, the layered haiku, the story within them, and the promise unfolding at the end, all make for excellence and eloquence.
