THE MEANING OF WINTER

Take Another Look

Pic on Flickr by Gemma Wiseman ~ Verandah ornaments 6
~
Totally Optional Prompts ~ Transformation
~
I am just a log
Trimmed for burning
But too large to give up my life
To fire and ash
In the wood heater
~
And I am just a brown pot
Encrusted with floral posies ~
I should be a bird bath
But somehow
My ornamentals
Deter birdlife
From finding
Joy in me
~
And we are just twigs
Refuse of trees
Fit only to return to dust ~
But maybe
We could spark
Some higher purpose
For just a brief moment
Of glory
As kindling
To inspire warmth ~
So we wonder
Is that all there is
For us?
~
Yet
Together
We become one ~
One new life
One new purpose
One new identity ~
Breathing a sense of
Unique interest
Perhaps a little beauty
In some humble corner
Of the verandah
~

There is strength and beauty when we seek common interests. Nice poem.

A picture paints a thousand words - nearly! Cleverly done.

Sometimes our actual appearance can be a disguise to those who only concentrate on the superficial.
Never judge a book by its cover.

Commonality is something we as humans rarely truly embrace. Great poem and image.

Tarot Card Identity

You are The Empress Beauty, happiness, pleasure, success, luxury, dissipation. The Empress is associated with Venus, the feminine planet, so it represents, beauty, charm, pleasure, luxury, and delight. You may be good at home decorating, art or anything to do with making things beautiful. The Empress is a creator, be it creation of life, of romance, of art or business. While the Magician is the primal spark, the idea made real, and the High Priestess is the one who gives the idea a form, the Empress is the womb where it gestates and grows till it is ready to be born. This is why her symbol is Venus, goddess of beautiful things as well as love. Even so, the Empress is more Demeter, goddess of abundance, then sensual Venus. She is the giver of Earthly gifts, yet at the same time, she can, in anger withhold, as Demeter did when her daughter, Persephone, was kidnapped. In fury and grief, she kept the Earth barren till her child was returned to her.
