Just a few notes ~ I have moments when I long to return to Tasmania, an island paradise. If I hear a little music from Alchemy (1996-8), then my spirit weeps with longing.
So using song titles from Alchemy's albums, here is a poem dedicated to a return someday. (Song titles are highlighted!)

Writer's Island prompt ~ The Return
One Single Impression prompt ~ Reflecting
~
Sometimes
Life is just a Stony Ground
Stifling the rhythms of
Earthbeat ~
Sometimes
A Tarn Dance
Spurns
Bleeding feet
But The Calling
Remains
Distant
~
Sometimes
I feel
Dark Wind
Churning
Black Sea
But I walk
Still
On Shifting Sands
In the Seasons of
Shadows ~
The Tapestry
Of Dreams
Spills fractured realities
On a Wing
Cursed to
Icarus' Flight
~
Sometimes
On the Whitest Sand
In a January summerland
I dare to stand on
Land's Edge
Reflecting on
Pasts and futures ~
Scanning the Ebb and Flow ~
And will my ship
To give me
The return
~

Gemma,
This walk on the beach is a wonderfully musical metaphor for a thoughtful life. Thanks.
Writing in Faith: Poems
i have never heard of alchemy,, but i will take a moment and hear a little if they are on you tube....
..the magnetic pull and the pining for something dear ..the effect of old landscape drawings..thank u..
..And will my ship To give me The return.. I especially love this last stanza.
I have been reflecting on a past hurt and willing myself, daring myself, to revisit it that I might finally leave it there, in the past. This is just so wonderful. Thank you.
Tasmania will do that to a person. I feel that way about Scotland. Sometimes I ache for it. Maybe one day we will both return to the place that calls to us.
I will have to check out Alchemy. I don't know much about Tasmania so I will have to check that out too. You have filled me with longing for it. I especiallly love your last lines. "and will my ship to give me the return." Beautiful.
That last stanza is quite strong and really reflects on longing.
I need to find out more about Alchemy, and Tasmania. Your passion for both shines through your words. I walk on the beach most days. It's where I make my decisions. It's where I write poems. It somehow brings my life into focus. A lovely post.
"Sometimes I feel Dark Wind Churning Black Sea But I walk Still On Shifting Sands" are my favorite lines. They speak of longing but a willingness to remain in the place you are.
your words tug at my heart. my mother was born in tasmania & left as a child...but it is i who long to go back.
I too love the last stanza. Wonderful work! The longing here pulls the reader right in.
it was as if in a dream...
Gemma,
The strong yearning to return is apparent in your words. There is that sweet longing in your voice in this poem. I feel it, too. I understand, for as you well knew my longing to return to my homeland.
I wish you well.
~ Jeques
You have created a remarkable avenue for return. So unique. Really draws me into your yearning for home.
