AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes

AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes
I love a sunburnt country / A land of sweeping plains / Of ragged mountain ranges / Of droughts and flooding rains / I love her far horizons / I love her jewel-sea / Her beauty and her terror / The wide brown land for me / ~ Dorothea Mackellar (1885-1968)

Bleeding air waves

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ My old radio
~
One Single Impression prompt ~ Bleeding
~
Bleeding dry in musky corners ~
An art gallery of dried blood
Not on the walls
But within the walls
And the halls
Where tread
The songs
That bled
Old voices
Old souls

Old voices. Old souls. So very true!

I can picture my old radio, which I got when I was 9 and which stayed with me for more than 30 years. I can hear those old voices. Wonderful take on the prompt.

This makes me think of the original magic of radio. I wonder what it was like to hear someone else's voice transmitted in this way for the first time.

And the passions. I often forget in the days of old, people had those, too!

This is such a wonderful poem! I love the music of the poem itself and the "old voices, old souls...." Lovely.

Nostalgia all wrapped up in sadness (which is what nostalgia is to me). I love this poem.

This was a very interesting take on the prompt. Glad my prompt idea was inspiring. I loved your photo too.

PS: Gemma, thought I should mention, your blog takes a LONG time to download when I stop by. Don't know if it's the distance between us (we are in BC Canada) but I visit a lot of sites that are a long way away and don't have this problem. I'll still be stopping in, the pause is worth it!!

Awesome take on the prompt. Great photo!

I too have noticed it takes longer than usual to download when stopping by. Totally worth the wait! We live on the east coast, USA

I've been feeling nostalgic lately; as the world barrels forward, I yearn for simpler times. There a very few old souls anymore.
