The shadows have a brushed-on look, as if an Impressionist painter had been at work.

I love soft, delicate shadows like this.
That's certainly a thought-provoking Haiku you included with this! I like both the Haiku and the photo.
The speckled lighting adds shape and character to the interior white. It almost as a lacy appearance, adding a rich texture to the portal. Very nice effects!
