After many days of rain, last Sunday there appeared a little sun.
I decided to go for a walk not far from home because the grey clouds still seemed to be hanging around.
In McCrae, just south of my home in Dromana, I found this odd feature in a front garden.
It looks like some kind of old farming equipment.
If anyone knows what it's called I'd be glad to know.
Proud old equipment
Usefulness turned into art
Curious treasure

Wow, what a beautiful piece of equipment! It looks to me like it might be some kind of harvester? Corn maybe?
P.S. Did you notice the seat is heart shaped? :=}
What a wonderful shot. It remembers on the old times...
It's certainly both old and beautiful. I always feel sad when I see things like that just left outside to rust away. They represent history and hard work, and should be taken care of. But they do make wonderful photo opportunities like that, with nature around it!
I'm not sure what it is, but what a wonderful and interesting garden feature! :-)
Lovely photo and words. Thanks very much for sharing them with us at I Saw Sunday Gemma, it is good to see you again. x
It's called a side-mounted reaper. It's for cutting long grass for hay. I used to own one that fitted onto a venerable Ferguson tractor. One day I managed to lose the tip of a finger when I was adjusting it.
It doesn't hurt now but at the time I nearly passed out..
So glad that Harry could identify the old farming equipment. I would have guessed that it was some sort of reaper. Wonderful photo filled with both nature and ingenuity. Thanks for sharing,
Elizabeth
