Garden arch in the grounds of Coolart's heritage homestead, Bittern, Mornington Peninsula
Trees are still leafless
Crisp wintry air still lingers
But an arch welcomes

I do love that arch! And what a delightful shadow shot, Gemma! It does look as if spring is a bit slow to arrive! Perfect words as always! Hope your weekend has gone well so far. Enjoy!

The arch is beautiful in shadow and subject! The only thing that would be even better is picturing an ivy rising up and sprouting over the stone and wood. With or without any foliage, a beautiful and airy structure!
The arch would be enhanced, I think, by a grapevine or wisteria. (My opinion, of course!)
SHADOW, SHADOW

Shadow, shadow lurking dark
In a corner of the park,
What immortal eye can see
Your transcendent symmetry?

I always feel strange when I read that you are waiting for leaves to form on trees while we are wishing they weren't blown off of them here. The amazing thing about the difference in hemispheres.
I love the arch. I want to build one over a patio out our back door., then i wonder what would grow, and sustain through the cold Northern US Winter, which, by the way, is soon upon us.
Always wonderful photos and haikun here. Thank you.
Peace
The arch seems to invite a walker into the garden, to enjoy the cool air and stark shadows.
what a beauty of an arch gemma. wonderful stone work. i was hoping the leaves would stay a little longer...high, high winds yesterday...i need to go out an pick up flower pots and things that were tossed around in the wind!!
namaste.
That is a wonderful shot of the arch and its surroundings. Very well done.
That IS a welcoming arch! Makes you want to walk right through, and maybe pause a minute.
Excellent ShadowShot!! The combo of stone and wood is always so lovely. Happy SSS.
