Aww what a handsome birdie! Have a great weekend
A beautiful shot for this week's theme.
Have a super weekend.
Great shot!

This reminded me of what happened this week. I was standing on the deck edge and looking down at my plantings when a large blob of black and white bird poo plopped on the ground about two feet out from the deck... and my head. By the time I looked up, the bird was gone. This was the size of a golf ball... perhaps from the osprey or eagle that nest nearby. I was certainly glad his aim was a bit off! ;)
My looking down is here. Have a great weekend!
Wow, I've never seen a kookabura before.
My photo hunt is up: http://bonggamom.blogspot.com/2011/05/photo-hunt-looking-down.html
What a fine capture! Love the little birdos!! Happy SSS.
A real kookaburra! King of the bush and laughing -- Wonderful photo!

This is beautifully captured! Perhaps aware that a photographer is looking, he will not be deterred from locating and capturing dinner. Thus, in his looking down and distracted by hunger, he left you a perfect pose!
Handsome little guy he is! Great capture, Gemma! Hope you have a lovely weekend! Enjoy!

You'll need a new verse for the kookaburra song. Perhaps:
Kookaburra thinking he's up a tree,
Waiting on the aerial, what's he see?
Look, kookaburra!
Look, kookaburra!
Now you're on TV!
(I'm sure if you tinker with this, you can do better!)
Oh he is divine, I love the autumn colours in the backdrop also. Have a good week.
Girl, you just get the best bird studies, even with one arm. I still haven't gotten to painting any birds, too busy in the yard, but tomorrow I'll also prep some windows for the artwork, it's just been too cold and rainy to paint outside, but 90's and sunshine by Monday...YAYYY!!!
It's always such a rush in the summer to get things going before winter rushes back at us...ewwww, I can't believe I said that dirty word. This is what us Northerners live for, the great outdoors, the frogs croaking in the ditches, the baby birds chirping all over the yard, fruits and veggies galore, beautiful flower specimens...ahhh, sweet, sweet summer...and I'll be a sweat-hog for most of it, cause I'm always out in the thick of it.
Many of my spring flowers haven't even begun to bloom, it's been too cold, even the leaves on some of the trees aren't at full mast, been a crazy year, regardless, I'll gladly take each day and each breath as it comes, reveling in it.
Isn't it grand to know that you have the respect of your students, you must have the knack. My 10th grade English teacher was fabulous, I learned so much from her and actually enjoyed class. I don't think I would have the patience to be a teacher, so much dedication to the learning process, long, frustrating hours of endless paperwork...I'm too aloof to sit at a desk, always something to be conquered in the great outdoors...I'm undisciplined that way, just a wild child at heart.
Hope you are still getting in some of your beloved walks and sojourns to the sea, that healing salt air for the soul, wish I could be there too, a dreamer as always. Take care dear sister and be glad that the accident happened in the winter, you'll be healed by summer...you'll need the strength to listen to my winter whining...many gentle hugs sent your way friend!!!

Awesome! This has just caught my kids' attention. Hope you can visit my entry too! Thank you and happy Sunday!
Great shot Gemma!!! That bird looks ready to pounce on some unsuspecting rodent. I believe it IS laughing about the feast in its future.
