I like angle of the neck, reaching around the corner of the shot. The shadows and ripples create a lovely texture and "fabric" for the background. Simple hues.

I love everything about this photo, Gemma...the rippled reflections, the soft shadows, and the snowy white of the gull against the darker sand...lovely! This is also a particularly beautiful haiku...I so like "waves of heartbeats"...:)
