Carry on Tuesday #76 ~ This week I’ve taken the opening line of Rupert Brooke’s poem The Soldier:
If I should die, think only this of me:
~
And if I should die
Please think only this of me
She knew states of grace
Wisdom's grace was hers
She taught the grace of knowledge

Wow, Gemma, you did really well with all these prompts! When I went to Haiku Heights a few moments ago and found that the prompt was "optimistic," my heart sank. I have no idea what I'm going to do with that. I'm not very optimistic about my chances of coming up with a haiku that incorporates that word or thought. But you, my dear, have done a stellar job, giving your readers a feast for eyes and ears (because who reads poetry silently?) and soul. Thank you!
Your first comment says it all beautifully. Yes, you are so amazing n the way you incorporate your haiku and you photography. See this shot this morning makes me think of yesterday when we were up on the North mountain hiking in all the fall color. My husband suddenly stumbled upon a gorgeous rhododendron bloom at the END of October. It was an unbelievable sight which I will post soon. I am still in awe of what we saw. This bloom is lovely - so graceful as it ungulates toward the calm water. Great capture and a great way to start the day for me :-)
A Graceful Soul!
You capture a beautiful, noble way to live. Well said.
Optimistic grace. Lovely.

A grace-filled poem. Nice inclusion of all the prompts.
Hi Gemma,
That could well make for a beautiful part of one's epitaph! I would like that too! :D

A profound end! :-) I truly savored that last line.
Such complexity mastered so simply. Love and Light, Sender
I found a great deal of satisfaction, both in your image, but especially your words.

Gemma you did do quite well combining grace with the lines from The Soldier into a haiku, well done indeed!
Lovely Gemma. It's a good haiku for a teacher -- optimistic souls if they are good.
