AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes
I love a sunburnt country / A land of sweeping plains / Of ragged mountain ranges / Of droughts and flooding rains / I love her far horizons / I love her jewel-sea / Her beauty and her terror / The wide brown land for me / ~ Dorothea Mackellar (1885-1968)

Shaken Not Stirred

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ Spring blossoms at Balnarring, Mornington Peninsula
~
One Single Impression prompt #30 ~ Fleeting
~
Heads or Tails prompt #58 ~ Shake
~

Sweet fragile blossoms
First breath of Spring light and warmth
First kiss of new days
~
But like a secret
Cast to the whimsy of winds
The time is fleeting
~
Cocktail of blessings
Winged hope of bright happiness
Shaken but not stirred

How precious! Any sign of blossom in cold Canberra, is a hint for the winds to come up and blow them off.

Hello Gemma!
'shaken but not stirred'
Not sure I understand your allusion, but the poem is lovely, lovely! And the blossoms in that pastoral setting...ay yi yi!
Thank you so much for this--

Made me stop for a moment to see and read about such spring beauty, when we are heading into autumn here, and everything is dying out for the season.

Beautiful pic and words. Here, autumn is looking picturesque in a different way.

I love the last stanza! I love the idea of a cocktail of blessings.

Gemma,
This of course reminds me your part of the world is facing the opposite season! This is a wonderful sequence; the images are full of life and remind me of the fragile nature of life. Thanks.

I just loved this, Gemma. With the ease of traveling the globe via internet, it is easy to forget that while I am just now heading into autumn, others are just experiencing the "first kiss of new days".

I like that you combined the prompt "fleeting" and "shake" in one poem, and it immediately brings to my mind the image of that brief moment when the wind shakes loose a virtual snow storm of blossoms, for that single fleeting moment.

Even though I love autumn, your poem makes me just a bit jealous of your fresh new season.

The arrival of seasons comes and goes so quickly and your poem really nailed it.

Your poetry is whisking me back six short months ago. Time is fleeting indeed.

I'll keep this lovely poem in mind as I'm hunkering down for the Winter.
Thank you for sharing it.
