One Single Impression prompt ~ Defenses Down
~
Perhaps
I may look
A little tired and worn
~
Rain eases the dust in my rooms
And my rusty tin roof
May enjoy a spin with
The next gust of wind ~
But I am happy here ~
Happy
To dream of other days
When the windows were clear
And the door opened
O so easily
~
I am delighted to know
That you have stopped by
To notice me ~
To see the beauty
Lost to so many
~
No burglar alarms
No security locks here ~
I have nothing that amounts to
Gold or
Diamonds ~
My only defenses are
Some sturdy
Thorny
Natural
Croppings of
Wild blackberries ~
But did you know
They taste
So sweet
~
And by the way ~
Did you notice
The handsome
Snowy white horse
Still grazing
Peacefully
Nearby
~

This house is a safe place and the horse is well looked after.
Sweet. It is a lovely house.
To be as self-aware as this house is to need no defense. Thanks, Gemma!
A roof taking a spin- I like that. Lovely poem and great attitude.
Perhaps not only peace, but beauty also, are the rewards of letting down our defenses.
I'd rather be a tumbledown house which is open and inviting than one of those high-walled mansions full of precious things but closed off to the world.
A wonderful giving of voice to the voiceless!
Love the image and the first poem is my favorite. Great interpretation on the image.
This is delightful--both words and images.
Just lovely. Wise, beautiful little house that knows where real value lies.
Just a lovely little poem- I like that it is the house speaking to us... :)
What a spectacular house!
so sweet...
Ahhhh, now you are talking to me of a peaceful abode, house full of history, telling you to relax, take me as I am, old and rundown but still full of promise. My kinda place...can we paint it pink...LOL

What is it with old houses that seems to strike a chord with us? The image is delightful and stepping through your verse was like walking along a path to the back paddock with an old codger as company.
How lovely! Well-protected and charming. A bit of life's end appeal. Nice, so nice.
yes please.... does it have a loo??!!!
On too many days, I sound just like that old house. Lovely photos and words to accompany them.
..it's a down-to-earth poem and beautiful..many thanks..
