I miss the mischievous magpie from the Colorado regions, we have none in Iowa, that I have seen, always stealing the stray particle of food, with ZEAL, a beautilful bird in his tuxedo.

oh how i loved this! the picture is terrific. you're taking some very nice pictures there miss! but the poem, how perfect! "always wired for a burst of operatic scales" -- those words could not have been more perfectly suited for that picture.
good job!
great capture... you can just feel the solitude this little guy is surely enjoying :)
Gemma,
I'm not really sure if it was a magpie that visits our garden at home during summer in the Philippines, but it looks exactly like the one in the picture and that bird sings happy tunes in a drowsy afternoon. I did some reseach about the bird but failed. I really wonder why it visits us only during summer. Is a magpie a migratory bird?
Excuse my interest, but it's 5 years now that I've been searching for a specie of bird that would complete my characters in the story I am developing.
Have I finally found my final cast in a magpie?
I wish you well.
