AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes

AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes
I love a sunburnt country / A land of sweeping plains / Of ragged mountain ranges / Of droughts and flooding rains / I love her far horizons / I love her jewel-sea / Her beauty and her terror / The wide brown land for me / ~ Dorothea Mackellar (1885-1968)

Poepelganger

Pic by Gemma Wiseman~ A loved part of me who has travelled many journeys with me
~
Poefusion Tuesday title ~ Create a poem from the title word Poepelganger.

Who's your poet alter ego?
~
For me, I am haunted by T.S.Eliot's gift of sunlight on a broken column, the revolutionary mind of William Blake and the sense of namaste I feel with Emily Dickinson.
All three are My Trinity, My Poepelganger.
~

This black body
This black face are
Just a cloud
Waiting to be free
Just like
A white body and
A white face are
Just clouds
Needing freedom
~
Some are dedicated to
Revisions and revisions
Some measure out life with
Coffee spoons
And some
Come and go
Chatting of
(Maybe to)
Michelangelo
~
Do I dare disturb
The tapestries of paradise
Woven with
Many threads?

Colour of my Mind

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ Dromana skies by Port Phillip Bay
~
Poefusion ~ Tuesday Title prompt ~ Listening to the colour of my mind
~

Waking
Feeling weighty sighs from yesterday ~
Knowing fragments of me
Broke ~
Knowing I could not reach
Another
Tormented
Angry
Being
Locked in a desperate maze of
Escape routes in
Blind
Dark
Alleys
~
Knowing love was simply not enough ~
Listening to the colour of my mind
~
Feeling a sense of wonder ~
On this particular day ~
When the first blur of waking passed ~
He tossled my hair
Gently
Smiled a little and gave me
An angel in
A swirling gown
~

Pic by Gemma Wiseman
~
Two cherubs graced her feet ~
One held a star
One held a tiny bird
And she carried a tiny candle
Shielded with her left hand
~
She had no halo ~
But instead
There was a place
(Behind her head) for
The halo light of
A candle
To be
~
Perhaps love always reaches
Even the most distant horizons
~
Sailing on a calmer sea
Today and
Listening to the colour of my mind
~

Beautiful Fractures, Beautiful Faults

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ Lovely view from the top of Arthurs Seat, Mornington Peninsula
~
The Mornington Peninsula is on the Selwyn Fault line which travels north toward the Tyabb Fault line. Arthurs Seat mountain sits right on the Selwyn Fault. Mild earthquakes may be experienced in the area. For more information on earthquake activity and Australian plate tectonics, see "Predicting the Earthquake" in The Age, April 18, 2005. N.B. Australia sits on the Indo-Australian tectonic plate and is moving north at 6.5 centimetres a year, faster than any other continent. The plate is also pushing under the Euro-Asian plate, causing huge stresses that can cause earthquakes - and tsunamis. [op.cit.]

No horizon has such eyes

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ Rosebud skies, Mornington Peninsula

Poefusion Tuesday title prompt ~ first line from e.e.cummings ~
somewhere i have never travelled, gladly beyond

somewhere i have never travelled, gladly beyond
any chance, your tapestry waits for threads: your footprints shadow
me, or where i wing because a glance will easily melt and unhinge
metal fingers, you open keys lock by lock touching my
Winter with mysterious Spring (eerily like a sponging dream)
first garden or if your spell be magic,
sacred i and my life will fold very pleasing, stealthy, as when one soul of this
wild flower imagines ice carefully cringing in packs; there is no pretence of nothing
which we are to tend here equal to limp water: whose ochres smoothe the tones of lands inside streaming death into breathing into forever echo (i do not imagine some to and fro) but what little understands in me is that no horizon has such

eyes
