Own Worlds

Mum and daughter were at Portsea to watch the tall ships sail out of Port Phillip Bay two weeks ago.
But then there was this moment when both seemed to be in other worlds.

the world is there
tempting me
but I am here

Refugees

Sign on the wall of St Paul's Cathedral opposite Federation Square in Melbourne.
At the time I took this photo last Sunday morning,
the carillon was playing, making the moment more poignant.
Outside the British Isles, St Paul's has one of the few peals of 13 bells.
St Paul's Cathedral is built on the site
where the first public Christian service in Melbourne was conducted in 1835.

Amazing what flowers can grow along a coastal walkway.
I believe this is a white grevillea coming into bloom near Dromana beach.

old sails...

Last weekend, tall ships, part of the Tall Ship Festival in Melbourne, sailed out of Port Phillip Bay heading for Hobart in Tasmania.
This is a view of one tall ship sailing past Portsea on the Mornington Peninsula.
For more photos of these tall ships, see my Boats and Boatsheds blog.

Lots of Stuff

I was sitting in the car at Moorabbin, waiting for hubby, so thought I would amuse myself by taking a few photos of nearby signs.
This sign was OK, but didn't seem particularly exciting.
I guess the use of the "$" sign was kinda creative, so I clicked the photo.
Still viewing through the lens, I moved the camera a little
and saw...

this sign.
It was by the turn from the carpark shopping centre to the road running by the shop in the first photo..
I chuckled.
A great play on words and a great "connection" with the shop sign.
Even the police are cashing in on "stuff".
Was that purely coincidence I wonder?
Check out what this last sign is really all about HERE.

Any guesses?

Private Balcony

This sign at Frankston for the Kon Thai Restaurant seems to be set like a framed, balconied window.
Small but eye catching above the shop front.
This was the first Thai restaurant - 1989 - on the Mornington Peninsula.

Toilet Art?

Not often do you see any form of art - other than graffiti - gracing exterior toilet walls.
But this one is in a park at Moorabbin, an inner suburb of Melbourne.
