Shadows by the Yarra

Some shadows relaxing by the Yarra River in Melbourne

Art by the Yarra
A story board of shadows
Like abstract thinking

Realms of loneliness
Dark corners and emptied space
Violate daylight

The pigment of guilt
Like black wells slashed with red blood
Like secret chasms

The palette of peace
Like gentle ripplings of blues
Tones to soothe the soul

The concept of love
Rainbow of passions and dreams
Colour coded worlds

Pandora's legend
When colours take flight from life
There is always hope

NOTE: For me, hope is like a transparency, picking up the colours you wish to be in your life.
Hope may transform into colour, yet is itself not a colour.
It is like a prism waiting to capture the colours of light.

Terrific, sharp, crisp shadow shot for the day, Gemma! Your composition is wonderful! I like seeing the legs and feet of the people sitting on the bench -- looks as if they're trying to get acquainted!! Delightful!

Nice view - the inanimate bench leaves shadows straight and true. The people shadows are organic (except for those heels "). It is time for the urban walkers to relax for a bit...

I've never thought of shadows relaxing before, but I suppose they need a break just as we do!

Pandora's legend....I must look up again now. I like the last two lines you've written, but I don't understand the link to Pandora (and her box, releasing too many colours for me to cope with...!).

For all their busyness cities can be lonely places with people and activity not translating into friendliness. Pandora's legend of hope in any circumstance is well applied to cities where their alien nature may indeed be relieved by a meeting with someone you know. Great poem.

A lovely poem, inspired from an interesting photo. Both are very well done. They made me feel reflective about many things.

What a delight ... this picture of shadows and the haiku series along to it ... very well done. This makes the true poetist (poet and artist).

I wonder...does hope too have a colour?

That's colorful indeed, with hues of Lonliness, Guilt, Peace, Love & Legend.

Nice contrast of shadows with the straight lines of the bench and curve of the leg and heels.

Brightest of all colors in this set of Haiku is color of Hope. So beautiful!

This great photograph suggests its own story (whether intentional or not). The bent shadows form shallow arrows pointing from the woman to the man, whilst the angled woman's foot indicates the same direction. A connection coming up, I think. The fine poem augments the picture.

What a nice shot.

Seems she's waiting for a great date. Ohhh... missed my days when I was in Melbourne.

Yarraville was where I used to had the rendevouz.

Happy SSS, Gem.

These are such beautiful thoughts, Gemma. Color always makes me feel hopeful, so you may be right.

nice choice for a shadow shot. I especially liked the ladys legs and shoes. :)

This is one of those wonderful linear black and white shots to which I am so attracted. It is a great capture. The legs with the high heels add so much to the overall capture. Both sets of feet add a humanistic quality to the picture. genie
