A Fringe of Shadow

A recent view of a still wintry Dromana beach from the pier.
Just visible on the left are a series of colourful boatsheds.
Anthony's Nose juts out in the background.

Shadow Shot Sunday #170

Waters are still chilled
Holidaymakers still gone
Beach still beautiful

The beach awaits a hot sun with soothing Pacific breezes to attract the beach goers. When full of people, the simple charm of the sandbar evaporates. So bereft of visitors, the simple sandy view is charming. Soon you in Oz will have the summer to enjoy as I am aware that our summer is heading to a close. Stunning capture from the pier!

"still" seems to be the prominent theme of your haiku this week! :-)

(I still like it, though!)

IF I HAD A SHADOW

If I had a shadow as big as the sky,
I never would fear, and I’ll tell you why:

My shadow would save me from dragons and things
That fly in the night with terrible wings;

My shadow would keep me away from the beast
That sniffs in the west and sniffs in the east

Hungry for children who play all alone,
Hoping to feast upon blood, upon bone;

My shadow would be my protector and knight
To keep fear at bay, to banish all fright.

I’m so glad my shadow is always nearby,
Though it’s not nearly as big as the sky!

I love the beach in winter

Boy it does look wintery at the beach, but I bet it stills smells of salty sea breezes, my favorite scent. Some days I wake up and walk outside and imagine I can smell the salt air of Florida, you smell it the moment you drive over the state line, it's ingrained in my soul!

I'm so happy to hear that your shoulder is doing better, you sound so chipper and positive about it...as for my finger, it's still bent. They say if you wear a splint for 2 months it will straighten out...yeah right, on my right hand, fat chance of that happening, I can't write a thing when the splint is on, let alone groom dogs...GEESH...what next!

Got 2 more eggs outta the coop when I got home from work today. I had totally forgotten what fresh eggs taste like...OMG...so yellow and fresh, they actually have a taste, tomorrow they will be fried, the omelet this morning was delish!!! It will be very hard to eliminate Louie, but the 2 boys will fight continually and with winter coming, it'll be too cold to deal with it, cause Big just won't let him in the coop...bad Brandon, but his harem loves him(Big)so it must be Louie I sacrifice.

Hope you get out in the sun and I hope we get more rain, it sprinkled enough to just give off the scent of parched earth...sigh!!!

Have a great week old friend, take care and mucho hugs comin' yer way!!!

Oh, Gemma....your post makes me think of the “self portrait” post I used from Buddy, but the colors in yours are so muted and beautiful. This is a dreamy shot...the kind that says, "Genie, you will be at the beach this time next week.” Love the shadow. genie
