Seagull outside a cafe at Mornington

Shadow Shot Sunday #163

Lonely scavenger
Like a white crow on the prowl
Our social monster
~
NOTE: I am not insulting the poor seagull.
I too like watching them, especially alone on the beach or in flight.
Sadly, we humans I am criticising. I feel we've encouraged the emergence of this bird's new persona by feeding it in the first place. Now we deal with the consequence.
People still throw them chips!

Beautiful shot and nice shadows! :)
Those are some pretty harsh words for that unsuspecting bird, Gemma! :-)
SHADOW, BE TRUE
My shadow has come out to play.
Oh, shadow, please don’t run away!
Stay here by my side,
Pretend you’re my bride—
Be true to me now and alway!

Shadows here and here
This avian pest stands amongst the diners at this establishment. Obviously learned behavior, these birds have forgotten how to search for a meal in the wild - so is quite content to beg for the occasional chip to be thrown its way. A fine looking gull with terrible manners!
(the word verification is wingu - so fitting for a bird!)
That little social monster posed like aa model for this ShadowShot. Have a great weekend Gemma!
Very nice Seagull shot!

Ah, those busy little buggers! They can be a pain, but what a great shadow shot! They do seem to enjoy posing, don't they! Hope your weekend is going well, Gemma! Enjoy!

this is a great shadow shot. they can be a nuisance to some people but I like them. perhaps because I stay out of their way! have a great weekend Gemma!
I like seagulls. Super photo, Gemma.
fantastic shot
the gull and his shadow are both lovely
White crow for sure. We call these flying rats! They clean up any food mess that might be strewn about.
Great haiklu and use of the image with the words.
Peace
Good job capturing it. I moved to a new domain, and HERE is my entry. Hope you can visit and follow me too, thank you!
Wonderful shot. The bird sure doesn't seem to mind his picture being taken. I guess he knew his lovely shadow was irresistable. Thanks for sharing!
We have the same problem in Helsinki. Especially in the harbour area those monsters are really rude - they steal food from people's hands. That's why I never eat out there...
But I agree - they are beautiful to shoot pictures like this, well done!
ps.
I've been in a tram in Melbourne! :)
Very good photography.
I like the cadre with this beautiful seagull and shadows.
Regards!
I like his ruffled feathers look!
OMG...it has literally taken me 20 minutes to get my computer to pop up your comment page...GEESH...and I have high speed internet, but everyone must be on it today!
I love this bird study, girl, you just take the best bird shots...I long for the days that I'll have time to paint again, I haven't even had the time to prep my canvas for the work, my garden takes all my spare time, not to mention my dog groomings have really picked up, as well as the soap orders, I just hope it continues through the winter months that are ever so slightly creeping up on us poor Northuners.
How's that shoulder coming along, glad to hear you're getting away from the pain meds and into some sort of routine again! Takes a long time to heal at our age...hope you're getting to the sea as well and breathing in that healing salt air, I so miss it, it's been years and I'm feeling the need to get to it, maybe this winter I'll venture out for a week or so...you never know these days what will happen, it's a crazy, scary world out there!
Take care dear sister, I'm off to the trenches...thinkin' of you by the sea ducking the sea gulls...ha...have a wonderful week...a big ol' Iowa smooch comin' your way!!!
I don't have seagulls anywhere near me, so I guess I didn't realize they have "duck feet"! But, duh...it makes sense!
Perfect shadow shot!
Great contrast between the gull shadow and the straight harsher ones..
