AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes

AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes
I love a sunburnt country / A land of sweeping plains / Of ragged mountain ranges / Of droughts and flooding rains / I love her far horizons / I love her jewel-sea / Her beauty and her terror / The wide brown land for me / ~ Dorothea Mackellar (1885-1968)

Rise or Fall

A stair is a fabricated
Rise or fall into
A new level of
Space
~
Many stairs are like a
Subconscious
Temptation to
Step
Down or
Up into
A new frontier ~
To explore
A sense of wonder
A sense of curiosity
~
But sometimes
There are stairs
Masquerading as
Possibilities ~
A false
Start
A disappointing
Cue ~
Those stairs which may once have led
Somewhere
But now
Stop
Halfway
~
Maybe
A broken landscape
~
Maybe
An aloof treasure
A little out of reach
~

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ Stairs at Arthurs Seat that once led to a ride on the chairlift up the mountainside.
Rumours say that the new owner may have it operating again this summer.
Rumours said the same thing last summer.

stairs lend themselves to allusions and metaphors leading between nothing and infinity

I'm seeing stairway to serenity in the first picture :) A nice and peaceful feel to it.

Gemma,

I always look at the stairs as metaphor for success, so for me, it is always a step up. But I never forget the steps that brought me to the higher levels, and I'm not afraid to step down at times only to find another stair to climb again - life is an endless climb, we should not get tired going up and down for if we do, we might be losing the chance of reaching many heights that life offers.

I wish you well.
