I love a sunburnt country / A land of sweeping plains / Of ragged mountain ranges / Of droughts and flooding rains / I love her far horizons / I love her jewel-sea / Her beauty and her terror / The wide brown land for me / ~ Dorothea Mackellar (1885-1968)

Take away the branch
Take away the leafy shades
But leave me a face

At first glance, the picture seem funny - the poem light. But when I look and read again, I thought it is sad.

I'm always moved when I see a cicatrix of a tree, Gemma.

I'm always tempted to make up stories in my mind how it got there. The trees are undeserving of the pain they get from their cictrices inflected by humans.

I wish you well.

This is moving and funny, but why should that be. Photographhy is provoke a reaction, and this odd shot does.

Gemma, so kind of you to visit my blog and leave a comment. I share your love of photography...am only an amateur, but love to find the subject. Our farm is a never ending source. Love the horse you photographed. Have a wonderful day!

I LOVE this photo! It looks like something I'd do in my garden!

Now this is truly odd. How does one know if they should leave a male face or female face?

If the branch has to go, then what a wistful look. She looks like she is looking for the branch.
