AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes

AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes
I love a sunburnt country / A land of sweeping plains / Of ragged mountain ranges / Of droughts and flooding rains / I love her far horizons / I love her jewel-sea / Her beauty and her terror / The wide brown land for me / ~ Dorothea Mackellar (1885-1968)

A Special Candle

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ An unusual tea candle holder (a special gift from my dear husband) sitting by day in my kitchen window.
Even in day light, it casts a lovely variety of shadow shapes dependent on the strength and angle of the sunlight.

Animals and Children

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ At the Annual Strawberry Festival last Saturday in Dromana, Mornington Peninsula, these goats didn't seem to know which way to look next for attention!

Animals draw smiles
Add a child for more delight
Innocent pleasures

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ But one goat seemed to be enchanted with this little one!
And the feeling seemed to be mutual!

Symbols of Fortune

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ This Chinese dragon has lived with me on my front verandah for a number of years. He has travelled well through a couple of house moves.

Magic Quills

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ Strange morning light over the children's playground by the sea in Dromana, Mornington Peninsula

Two fer Tuesday meme

Sometimes
There are views
You simply love
For no particular reason
~
There is busy clutter
No real focal interest
A wish-washy mire of indefinite colour
And it all seems cramped into
The nether regions of
A no particular somewhere
~
And yet
There is something about
Those feathered quills
Resting in foamy tides of the sky
Resting innocently above a tiny snippet of
A child's world
That makes the whole confusion
Simple
Magic

Walk on Water

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ Dromana pier, Mornington Peninsula

Two fer Tuesday prompt
~
Dromana pier is one of my favourite places. But I rarely walk the pier alone! There is only one stretch of railing on one side. And sometimes the waters of Port Phillip Bay are whipped up by strong winds! So I keep my enjoyment mainly to the safety of the beach pathway and just take photos!
