AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes

AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes
I love a sunburnt country / A land of sweeping plains / Of ragged mountain ranges / Of droughts and flooding rains / I love her far horizons / I love her jewel-sea / Her beauty and her terror / The wide brown land for me / ~ Dorothea Mackellar (1885-1968)

ABC of a Living Legend ~ for Poefusion

Pic from gothamist
~
A long time ago
Before the world became new
Catastrophe ruled
Demonic souls wandered free
Ever searching for some peace
~
Forever roaming
Guttered shapes in guttered streets
Hoping for life forms
Intent on finding someone
Jettisoned from the nightmare
~
Kites wheel menacing
Lurking shapes in lurking skies
Marauding dark threats
Nihilistic aftermath
Of once proud, progressive worlds
~
Potent portent now
Quivering relic of man
Roaming with a dog
Simmering nuclear steams
Taunt any hope with despair
~
Under burning earths
Vicious poisons coil and seep
Whimpering answers
X-ray vision is futile
Yesterday's hell lingers on
~
Zero ~ It's just Ground Zero
