Understated Fence?

Lovely old house - Californian bungalow - at Moorabbin, an inner suburb of Melbourne.
Somehow I feel that the fence line style doesn't really complement the house.
Maybe they wanted an understated fence line so that attention is drawn to the house and garden?

NOTE
Re: the curled feature on the roofline.
Many early 20th century homes have this.
Some say it's called a pinnancle and is a stylised version of a gargoyle to ward off evil.
More responses suggest that it is a feature of Japanese architecture advertised in the World Trade Fairs and "borrowed" for other architecture.

overhere every house have fences unless those in the village. Sometimes I wish we don't have to have fences but the crime rate is just too high to be without fence

The fence does seem to stand out in an odd sort of way with the house. If it were mine I would probably try to paint it a darker color but that's probably not something you can do with a wire fence very easily. Perhaps it will turn dark with time.
