At first, this looks like an ordinary hoop for shooting balls.
But I have never seen one that allows the leafy view of the setting to be seen through the backboard - or such a huge backboard for that matter!
I just wondered why it was so close to the gutter of the carport roofline!

Maybe the ball is for the gutter ?
In the USA, see through backboards are all over in the college and professional leagues - I don't know why unless they cost less or allow those seated in the end zone to see the ball better. This unit seems far too large for the suburban tract home. Perhaps the kids thought so too, as the trees are now passing through the hoop and not unused. Cool capture!
I wonder if the kids shooting baskets ever stop to think about the beautiful view in the "frame"? I hope so.
That is a nice hoop...but won't the trees get in the way?
