I like that last line. How apropos!
Oh 'Wings change tone and balance' awesome lines used in the haiku with great meanings. Loved it. :)
The sound pair of "balance" and "challenge" is a great one.
Lovely shot and I liked your second haiku.
Beautiful photograph and message. Loved the last line of your poem!
There is wisdom in these words - the ones that stand alone are particularly engaging.
Lovely photograph and words ~
I wish summer is longer...
beautiful poetry Gemma .. I could see myself looking in the mirror .. how strange more thoughts of my childhood have been intruding as never before.
I love the kite : ) Husband brings a large one like that to Cuba every year for his holiday and then leaves it for the kids there .. they have a blast : )

A reflective piece. I think my favorite line is:
When Summer colours find Autumn
But it's your title that drew me right in...really makes me think, I love that.
I think the last line is the everyday challenge - to look at oneself and see how much we've changed, while still retaining a sense of that child as we age.
this is truly lovely...
I loved the last line as well--beautiful writing!
Ooh, multi-leveled in meaning.....yesterday's child does find the mirror. So well said!
Nice poem Gemma, a bit different from the other form I know you of ... the haiku. Lovely imagery in this one.
Great picture too.
Namaste
Lovely.
That mirror can be a mixed blessing.
Beautiful. At first I thought it was a real bird. Your poem is filled with lovely imagery. I also really liked that last line. One day we do suddenly look in the mirror and realise we are no longer a child.
yesterdays child finds the mirror....what a cool line that is....love the imagery of the wings...and them changing with the season as well...very nice...
Oh, really nice. Love the metaphors. That pic is awesome, the lifelike nature of the kite is amazing. Really cool shot. Yesterday's child finds the mirror-what a great line.

The youngster upon reaching adulthood will find similarities of what life has been. A deja vu sort of! Nicely written Gemma!
