Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ A corner of the Enchanted Maze Garden, Arthurs Seat, Mornington Peninsula captured in bright midday summer sun.
At first, this looks like a gathering of fairly ordinary shadows!
That is, until you look closely at what is actually happening here.
The hedge casts short sharp shadows!
Nothing really surprising that the shadows connect mainly with the lower leaves.
But look at the fish sculpture. The 2 parallel line shadows almost seem unconnected with the shape.
Only the mass of the fish is being shadowed, not the shape.
However, the most interesting shadow is the one from the slightly curved woods.
Slightly curved? In fact, the shadow seems wider and more deeply curved than the structure. The two pieces of wooden arch create one large shadow, curved at the bottom and yet the two woods are straight there!
The result, to me, looks much like a huge moustache!
So what do you see?

SUMMER...that's what I see dear friend!!!
The days are becoming longer, ever so slightly and I'm starting to see the flights of the Canada goose coming back from the southern states, time to start laying eggs and bringing in springtime with their fuzzy goslings waddling on fresh green grasses...oh I lament...
IS IT SPRING YET!!!
We still have a long way to go, but the bits and pieces of it are falling into place, so I'm anxiously preparing the shops for her arrival...I'm so anxious to start painting outside in the warm breezes...or just sitting outside again and listening to the birds twittering madly for nesting rights...this is what Spring is all about, right...if it wasn't for Winter, we wouldn't enjoy it so much...so I wait...argh!!!
I hope all has been well with you, little mouse...you are in my thoughts often! Hope the kids haven't dragged you under...we dream of our days of solitude with much thinking allowed!
Have a wonderful Sunday dear friend...hugs from afar...

Good morning downuder!
Hope everything is fine there and I see you're still in the middle of the heat of spring.
An asian touché shadow is gorgeous, isn't it? Loving it...
Take care... hAPPY SS...
I love your shadow shot, Gemma, and as you wrote, there are so many interesting aspects to one photo with many different shadows and shapes! Love the big moustache! Wonderful! Hope you're having a great weekend! Enjoy!

I see the top of the sculpture floating up the hedge. Almost as if a thermal is allowing a bird to gain altitude by opening his wings and blissfully rising up. The sunny warmth of your summer leaves a nice shadow...
Thanks for pointing out all the shadows, Gemma. A lot is going on here!
There is a lot going in that photo! I like the big moustache shadow. Now that's not something one sees everyday :) A very fun shadowy post Gemma. Hope you have a super week ahead!
LOL now that you say so I see a huge moustache too! Thanks for making me aware and taking a better look at this lovely picture!

Amazing how many shadows you helped me see..Very interesting picture. It tells me how much I miss seeing, by not paying attention. Beautiful shot.
