AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes
I love a sunburnt country / A land of sweeping plains / Of ragged mountain ranges / Of droughts and flooding rains / I love her far horizons / I love her jewel-sea / Her beauty and her terror / The wide brown land for me / ~ Dorothea Mackellar (1885-1968)

The Last Emperor ~ Bernardo Bertolucci

Multiple exposure collage by Gemma Wiseman ~ includes a sunset in the Dromana Hills, Mornington Peninsula and the DVD cover of The Last Emperor.
The Last Emperor refers to the last emperor of China, named Pu Yi.
In the movie, Peter O'Toole plays the role of his tutor, Mr Reginald Fleming Johnston.
He was the Lord of Ten Thousand Years, the absolute monarch of China.
He was born to rule a world of ancient tradition.
Nothing prepared him for our world of change
.

Carry on Tuesday meme ~ This week our prompt is the opening line from The Great Gatsby by F Scott Fitzgerald ~
In my younger and more vulnerable years my father gave me some advice that I've been turning over in my mind ever since.

~

My tutor became my father
You will always be the Emperor inside the Forbidden City but not outside...
~
~ I'm not allowed to say what I mean. They're always telling me what to say...
~ I'm not allowed to leave the Forbidden City...
~
In my younger and more vulnerable years
My new father gave me
A bicycle
Symbolising his advice
Some advice that I've been turning over in my mind ever since...
The only way to change is to discover the Truth and look at it in the face...
~
In time
The republic became as corrupt as the regime it overthrew
Change was
Changeless

~
Nothing has changed with the republic, neither inside nor outside the Forbidden City...except for the bicycles...
~
And I live
As a peasant
With my father's advice
My own
Simple
Troubled
Bicycle
~

An interesting post. I really like the way you've used the COT prompt and tied it in with the first part.
