AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes

AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes
I love a sunburnt country / A land of sweeping plains / Of ragged mountain ranges / Of droughts and flooding rains / I love her far horizons / I love her jewel-sea / Her beauty and her terror / The wide brown land for me / ~ Dorothea Mackellar (1885-1968)

Kitty Strings

Word Pool Wednesday #5 ~ charity + donation + kitty
~

The tiny kitty was a charity case tragedy - disposable.
One leg missing was undesirable.
The donation of medical attention failed.
Failed until a little lame girl begged her mother for a furry friend.

Mirror! Mirror!

Word Pool Wednesday #4 ~ mirror + reflection + soul
~

Mirror mirror reaching tall
Whose reflection beats them all?
asked the smugly smiling pathway.
Sadly, I must tell you, constant friend, it's always the sea's soul that beats me!
See my rust spots?

I Wanna Be A Knight

Collage by Gemma Wiseman ~ including a photo of a travelling player who brought a taste of Medieval times to my school

Word Pool Wednesday #3 ~ dragon + fly + knight
~

I'm a homespun, wanna be knight yearning for battles beyond the stone dragon on my verandah. I perform tournaments for the school kids! But on weekends I fly a kite!

Heaven Scents

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ A rose in my last summer's garden, Dromana Hills, Mornington Peninsula

Word Pool Wednesday #2 ~ coutryside + rose + sunshine
~

Strolling some lonely countryside beneath weeping sunshine meant that heaven's door was tightly closed today. But even naked spaces were better than chilled dark alleyways. I may taste scents of a summer rose.
