I like the bent rebar (if that's what it is ) at the tops of the columns. It adds an interesting line and shadow.

Hmm, I can see that people could be unhappy. "Sympathetic to the locality" seems rather like hyperbole. Still, the construction provided you with a great photographic opportunity, with all those shapes and shadows.
