A lion waiting for the time when he performs in Stardust Circus, Rosebud.
This is a travelling circus that appears on my peninsula in the Christmas holiday season.
Strangely, I have never been to a circus.
I am not really fond of the idea that animals are used.
A kind of sad face
A wish to find some free breath
In open spaces

This poem goes straight to my heart. That a lion should be caged, when he belongs on a wild savanna running free. He is so beautiful.
Totally agree with Sherry, how sad to see caged lives - ♥
Very nice haiku!
Though i loved going to the circus when I was a child, and even went to one a couple of years ago, I don't like the idea of caged animals either!
Life is complicated...

Have a nice week Gemma****
as a child, I never questioned the caging of animals, but since then, it breaks my heart
such an apt haiku, Gemma!
a powerful cat that really should not be in a cage.
Yes he does look so sad...I would be too. Glad that you speak for the animals who can't speak for themselves!
I'm always torn when it comes to things like zoos and circuses. Great shot!
very touching, the earth belongs to everyone and cage to none!
similar to my theme too :) as a child i loved circus'. for sure i dont find them appealing now. especially when they cage such magnificent creatures, who were meant to roam wild.
Sadly, the lion's wish will probably never materialise into reality...
