Verandah Shadows

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ When the winter sun decides to shine, it is amazing that shadows are as close as a verandah outside.

Is that cute little house a domicile for fairies or gnomes? It must be! (But where are the little creatures? Surely you've spotted them at one time or other!)

SHADOWY DINNER

A shadow, a shadow, a shadow you say?
A shadow is coming to dinner today?

Oh, what shall we feed it, and what will it eat?
Just toss down a few rays of light at its feet,

And watch its dark mouth gobble up every ray,
But be sure, my friend, you don’t get in its way;

Keep out of the light so it won’t gobble you.
(If I were the hostess, that’s just what I’d do.)

A shadow is easy to feed, so they say,
So welcome your shadow to dinner today.

Nice veranda shadow...I am having a hard time getting it fixed in my mind that you all are in winter. We are experiencing such a heat wave here. genie

what a cute little house for a little creature. long shadows too, but conveniently located for sure. I marvel at our opposite worlds - you're in early winter and we're in...a cold late spring! happy SSS Gemma.

You have better shadows in winter these days than I do in "almost summer"! Love that little house and those crisp, sharp shadows! Hope your weekend is going well, Gemma! Enjoy!

I really dig that gnome house and its shadow!

Yes, winter shadows arrive and are long, the result of the now faraway sun. So, outside our windows broad shadows tempt the photographer...

The toadstool shaped birdhouse is unique and stylish on its own - the shadow forms an arrow on the wood, drawing our eyes to the entire shadow. Pointing out winter's unique sun position...

Great shadows, Gemma. Is that little house for toads? I'd LOVE to have one in my garden.

Nice sharp dark edged shadows. Great capture for sure. I think I'll start calling my patio deck a veranda. Maybe I'll string some lights. You've motivated me.
Hope all is good with you.
Peace

What a lovely shadow this little house makes! And it makes a perfect home for little frogs and critters.

Oh sister, isn't it funny how we have to decipher our cultural differences, like the crocs, the most comfortable rubber-like shoes, so comfortable and indestructible and lightweight, the winds just picked them up and threw them across the yard. And the craziest thing about the playlist too, I had no idea about the copyright in Australia, because I remember you having the best music on your blog too, but if they want advertizing on your blog, they should ask your permission. I thought it was very disruptive...sorta like all this rain, great for plants, but hard to weed because of it. My old house had very clayish soil and when it was dry, it was as hard as concrete. I love my soil now, it's sandy loam and very easy to cultivate, but since I'm doubling the size of the garden, I thought it be best if I got a small tiller to save my hands from the ravishing of the shovel. The cord will be a pain, but trying to keep the fuel lines clean on a gas power machine is more of a pain. It's only 11 inches wide, perfect size for a one woman garden!

How's the arm coming along, slow to heal I'm sure, especially when we're so active, ya can't slow us down! We are supposed to have sun tomorrow, with cooler temps, perfect for working in the yard. I'll be letting my chickens out in the yard to graze while I'm out there, they love to follow me around the yard, but when I walk toward the coop, they run right back inside...they are so funny with they're chicken antics!

I hope you have a wonderful week ahead and you too get some sunshine...it heals the soul...take care dearest friend, stay on the mend and know that I too think of you often!!!

HUGS!!!
