Short Sharp News Alert #3 ~ Dromana's New Pearl ~ A sonnet
Monday Poetry Train Revisited #63
~
A coastal village on Port Phillip Bay
Dromana is the joy of seaside life.
Each season is a song in Nature's play,
Each moment is a scenic pause from strife.
When holidays are tempting weary slaves
And Christmas is a time to find escapes,
Parades of campers inundate the waves
While residents try dealing with new shapes.
But those new shapes will last for longer now.
A huge three tiered resort will grace the shore.
The humble tent will fringe the fancy bow.
Our simple pleasure place will be no more.
Pearl Beach, the pretty shell without the pearl -
Is this the way our nation will unfurl?
~
THIS IS NOW...WHAT THEN?

Sad to see this happen, but sadder to see the decay that remains if schemes like this are opposed.
It's sad that things have to move on, people want these developments, or so the developers claim, but what about the locals? It's been all downhill for Joe Public since Heinz started bottling sauce, or was it Hartley's and Jam? Of course sliced bread didn't help, but seriously, once these developments start, where will it all end? One thing leads to another and the likes of Walmart and Tesco will soon be digging up the sand. Phew!
Brave poet to attempt the sonnet. I've tried it once. Congratulations. Thank you for sharing it.
